- Soup. The wonderful smell of Nana's vegetable soup is currently wafting in from the kitchen. There is no better reminder of home and warmth than wintertime soup.
- Pudding. Some diet in January, I eat sugar in search of hope at the bottom of a bowl. And I love to see my kids' eyes light up at the mere mention of the word.
- Caffeine. Because I haven't slept properly in three years, but my trusty coffee mug has stood by me through it all, even when I lost the ability to form sentences and ceased to have any apparent hairstyle.
I know there are some far more legitimate reasons to be chipper, and for these I look to the lovely Mummy From the Heart (thanks, such a nice idea).
Pudding and caffeine are always reasons to smile. No soup for me today - is way too hot. But I love it in winter and can't wait for the chill to hit the air.
ReplyDeleteYay for pudding! Great list :)
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of homemade soup - always reminds me of my Grandma when I used to go to her house after school.
ReplyDeleteFab list!
Your post made me feel a bit nostalgic for winter... It's summer at my end of the world. Thanks for visiting me at muminsearch.com.

How I long for pudding - full fat and preferably with custard x
ReplyDeleteThere is something very lovely about 'nana's soup' (: Really liking these 'reasons to be cheerful' posts! x
ReplyDeleteI LOVE soup - my favourite is ham on the bone in a thick stock with lots of pearlbarley! I always stir in a couple of tibs of pease pudding too! Can NEVER get away with green split peas - they are ALWAYS hard despite boiling, soaking etc. Nice to meet you.

ReplyDeleteI am there with you on number 3!! Jen
ReplyDeleteWe are in the height of summer here so it was quite surreal reading your post! That's what I love about blogging.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you on the coffee issue. Caffeine has long been my drug of choice for dealing with motherhood.
Take care and stay cosy and warm.

Ooh yes, coffee has always been a good friend of mine and is more like a crutch these days! Great list

Wonderful list. Tastes, smells, memories, comfort. All good!
ReplyDeleteYes please to sugar. January is such a ridiculous month for diets. I tend to spend January fretting about money, feeling too cold and eating Nutella straight from the jar.
