Paint the rainy town

I love to finger-paint. I find the messiness, the goopiness and the silliness of the experience very liberating. Thing one and thing two are kind enough to indulge me in this habit. They even go along with the official household line: painting is a great educational activity for the kids, develops their creative side, blah blah blah.
The child is mother of the woman.
One of my favourite simple pleasures about early motherhood is the opportunity to behave like a little kid myself - an otherwise rare chance in adulthood. I will miss this when they are older. So we'll paint like mad till then.

Gingerbread girl

Ana has a patented 'proximity to head' system for ranking toys and various other objects. Cookie cutters command much respect in her hierarchy.
Cookies on the brain.

Peas in a painted pod

In this house, we find that Jackson Pollock research is a good bonding activity. This is a post on togetherness for Tara Cain's Sticky Fingers Gallery.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a shape sorter?

Tall tails of the unexpected

Sometimes my sitting room hangs with vines and the walls become the world all around. A private boat tumbles by for Ana and she sails off through night and day, in and out of weeks, to where her wild brethren are. After rumpusing for a spell, she gets lonely and trades her wolf suit for supper (which is still hot).

Shaggy tale-feathers.
There is a posterior focus about Tara Cain's marvelous body of work this week. A fitting angle in this wild house, where most residents have tails to match their horns (some invisible, but don't be fooled).

I don't mean to imply that Ana spends all her time where the wild things are. Sometimes she's off chasing Bagheera through the jungle. But tails are compulsory in all her worlds.
